Thank you for visiting
The Database began with a simple idea: Wouldn't if be cool if there was
a fast and easy resource to find that location information we’ve spent hours on foot searching for?
That was about two years go. Even at that time, we knew weren’t the first to have such a notion.
But, little happened; that is, until recently.
Anyone who has worked locations for a while probably
knows, there are a few reoccuring problems that perpetually face scouts:
Lack of Hard-Drive Space: those images take up alot of bits & bytes.
Unreliable Storage: External hard-drives only last so long.
General Dissary: Information everyware.
As some old Greek guy once said: ‘Necessity is the Mother of All Invention,’ and so,
faced with these difficulties, we decided to create the Locations Database, designed with intention to
alleviate the above mentioned issues.
The break-through came when it became evident that organizing the files in a categorical structure would never work
and that the only way was to utilize a ‘Flat’ system.
What does this mean? Rather than putting all ‘Restaurants’ into a folder together, we put them into
the same folder with ‘Offices,’ ‘Barber Shops,’ ‘Museums,’ and everything else.
Each file is assigned a specific number, the File #, to distinguish it from all the others.
Currently the Database can support search for approximatly 32,248 individual files, but we plan to raise that
number as necessity dictates.
On this site you can upload photos in specific folders, add important text information, attach any type of document
to a specific files, and search. There are many improvements still to come, but in the meantime, please enjoy this initial version of the Database.
All contributions to the files will be greatly appreciated.
